What's the *first* thing you do when you feel shitty?

Maybe you'll tell me something like...

Eat chocolate
Open Instagram or
Uncork a wine

or even

Take a breath in meditation
Spend time in nature or
Talk to your mum

But even before THAT...

the micro-seconds before...

What do you do?

Because *that* is what has the biggest impact on what happens next. And how much shittier you do or don't feel.

So...
something happens...
and your body is flooded with 😩😞😢

And the first thing you do is...

Talk to yourself.

Yep, SELF TALK.

How's yours? When you're feeling bad, what do you say to yourself?

Do you encourage and comfort yourself?
Or do you criticize and dream of worst-case scenarios?

Do you forgive and give space to yourself?
Or do you chastize and focus on all the bad stuff?

Would you give your friends or loved ones the same treatment as you give yourself?

Next time you're feeling shitty, make sure you watch your mind. Cultivate your self-talk so that you're empowered by it, nurtured by it, loved up by it.

It’s easy to forget that you’re in charge of your mind. *You* command it which means you’re not a slave to whatever passes through there (or gets stuck).

When you notice yourself thinking things that don't really serve you, gently command your mind. Feed it and seed it with what you *do* want to hear.

And then if cruel or unhelpful thoughts continue, simply drop them — don’t engage.

(Like how you might handle a child who wants candy at the shops and keeps yanking on your skirt to remind you. Don’t give in.)

This mental cultivation takes awareness and action!

And then once you’ve tended to your mind, go do your other comforting things, like talking to mama and eating some choc (I'm not against comfort eating, so long as you know that you're doing it, it's within reason and it's with love).

Wishing you ease & a loving mind,

Caitlyn
